2025 Explorer ST
Hi all,

Bought a '25 ST few weeks ago. I intend to keep this for a long time - so share your secrets :)

1. Turned off that creepy lane centering thing (reduced it to 'alert' only - would be nice to be able to shut it off for good)
2. I have to get used to hitting that auto start/stop button every time I crank the vehicle - what a PITA - any way to make it sticky as well?
3. Next thing I'll have to figure out is how to turn off daytime light festival
4. Bought an extended warranty for 5yr/60k miles - but now I think I will actually need the warranty after 60k miles - any suggestion?
5. Did the first oil change @1k miles - synthetic blend as the dealer recommends
6. I do spirited driving once in a while - is it okay to use '87 then?
6. Any other suggestion would be highly appreciated

Welcome :)

1. Just turn in off (one switch is on the edge of indicator switch), second on the left part of steering wheel.
2. For Fusion there was a trick to add "press start/stop button" into the startup procedure so the car disabled it by itself, but that's a pain because on every occasion dealer will flash the program for new one. You need to get used to turning that crap off everytime :D (or get a PHEV version where it's not an issue).
4. Get as much warranty as possible. Cars are designed with hurry and are overcomplicated these days + you can't buy many parts but need to get entire element (like getting a new transmission in BMW X5 if one of the valves fails).
6. Enjoy the ride :)

In my experience, a B2B 5/60k extended warranty is all you should need. Only very minor problems after the 50k mile powertrain warranty ended. The warranty from Ford is not that expensive though so worth peace of mind if you want it. I don't have an ESP and am glad I didn't buy one.

I personally love lane centering and intelligent cruise control. To each his own. But for me, I can get distracted or fail to judge speed so both of these newer technologies has helped keep me safe. I really enjoy my 2020 and will likely get a 2025+ when the time comes.

1) You can fully turn off lane centering via the button on the end turn signal stalk.

2)Unfortunately can’t keep it off without an AutoStart stop eliminator
3) You can do that with Forscan
4) Granger or Flood Ford have the warranty cheapest at cost plus $50
6) Perfectly fine, just an ever so slight decrease in overall performance, but computer is smart enough to deal with that
7) Check out my modding guide for these cars, be aware though, might give you the modding bug :-)

Welcome to the Forum.

What do you mean by "daytime light festival"?
I'm not sure what exactly "spirited driving".

Thanks, Everybody!

Time to get an eliminator for auto start/stop.

By daytime light festival, I meant DRL & interior/ambient lighting that comes on during the day. In sunny Texas, these features become useless IMO.

So I was able to turn off DRL from settings, but wasn't able to completely turn off interior lighting (reduced the brightness only). I guess I have to look up forscan method as suggested above.

Hi all, was there any subtle change in '25 ST model's cargo area dimensions? I was looking for a liner on fordparts.com and it was showing LB5Z-7811600-AB won't fit '25.

Thanks.

WeatherTech shows the same one fit.

No there shouldn’t be a difference.
