Picked up a beautiful 2003 Lincoln LS 3.9l V8 today for $400! Pearl white with a white/tan interior. FULLY LOADED! Factory HIDs, the chrome wheels everyone wants for these things, heated/cooled seats, premium sound, moon roof, memory seats, automatic windows, etc.

For awhile I was looking around for a "beater" to drive to work, or have to drive in case my X is ever out of commission, or to have when I finally do my lift and body lift, so I don't have to rush and get it done in a day.

Searching came up pretty sparse, found a few nicer late 90's, early 00's Cadillacs in my range, but PLPD insurance was going to cost more than full coverage on my damn Explorer! Gave up for awhile.

Was on Facebook, and i'm in a lot of those local for-sale type groups. Saw this beautiful 2003 LS with a price tag of only $500! "Needs a motor" it said. About 180k miles, but clean as a whistle. (Okay, it needs the Joe-Dirt treatment, but once I give it a good couple hours of elbow grease, the thing will be spotless. Very minor damage from the sunroof on the leather center console lid)

We exchanged a few messages, well, it was his wife messaging me, and she didn't have many answers for my questions, but luckily he was home when I went and looked at it this morning, and gave me the back story. Basically, its been family owned since new, very few/minor issues until now. He was driving to work, and it went into an "emergency" mode (limp mode) wouldn't go much over 10, and it was really pushing trying to go 10 and he parked it. Towed it home the next day, started it up and it ran perfectly fine, he drove it around the block and out to the road and it happened again. He said it struggled to back into his (inclined) driveway.

(Im REALLY thinking its a clogged cat. Read online quite a few people had clogged cats in these things)

He said its been parked for quite a while, he's wanted to start working on it, but works 60+ hours a week and has a couple hour drive, so its hard to find the time or motivation when he is home to work on it. They ended up just buying a new car when they parked this thing. They have a few LS'es in the family, and a family member needed coil packs which they gave them from this LS, so right now I have to buy coil packs for it before anything.

Gonna start with the obvious, new plugs, air filter, fuel filter, coil packs, oil change, etc and go from there. He cranked the engine for me and it cranked just fine, so i'm really hoping to get some more life out of this thing. I figure worst case, I can re-sell it for what I have into it, (Their post had a million bites, but I came first and had cash in hand), part it out and make some money, or pick up a used engine from eBay or the like, they go for about $700~ and try my hand on a first engine swap on my days off.

Will post some pictures once I get it home. I have the title and both keys, but have to leave for work early today so im going to trailer it home tomorrow.
