I got tired of my 00 S10 pickup and bought a new project it's an 05 XLT, 4.0, 122K.
Clean central Florida vehicle, paid $1,000 with a locked up AC compressor and nearly flat tires from sitting.
Bypassed the AC with a ranger belt aired up the tires,, filled up the tank and drove her home with the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
Now the fun begins.
Here's what I'm up against:
ABS light is on.
Overdrive off light goes on and off at will.
No turn signals or emergency flashers.
P0403 code every time I start the engine (EGR).
What I have done so far:
Changed the engine oil and filter.
Cleaned all accessible electrical connections in the engine compartment with contact cleaner.
Cleaned mass air flow sensor with spray can mass air flow sensor cleaner.
Installed an aftermarket inline transmission cooler in front of the AC condenser.
Transmission filter and fluid change. The pan was surprisingly clean inside with very little grit on the magnet. I added Lucas trans fix with the fresh MerconV.
Initial test drives reveal that the transmission performance is markedly improved but the overdrive light still pops on and I get occasional hard shifts from one to two and sometimes slipping from one to two. A new solenoid pack is on the way.
I have a whole raft of new parts coming including an AC compressor, receiver dryer, pag oil and belt and a multifunction switch in addition to the aforementioned solenoid pack for the transmission.
