New Sirius channel lineup effective May 4th.

I just tried saying CNBC, and it took me to the correct station.

I was having the wrong station problem, but, seems like it may be working now.

I have not tried any other stations there were wrong.

when i say the grateful dead channel it takes me to a christian rock station. Maybe Sirius is trying to tell me something and convert me

What does TSB mean? How will the fix be installed? Also having problems with the clock, which randomly adds an hour on to the time.

Steve,
Do you have DST Daylight Savings Time on or off? Technical Service Bulletin. TSB

It is on.

Thanks for the TSB definition.

When I verbally try to switch stations on Sirius from one to another it will often tell me that it is not a valid station. But, if I switch the stations manually the supposedly invalid stations will be displayed. Is this a problem caused by the new channel lineup?

Has anybody tried the sirius voice command update file on syncmyride? They say it is a temporary fix for the wrong channel problem with Sirius, and can be downloaded and installed by the user.

Curious why it is only temporary. Maybe a new update is on the way.

"In regards to the incorrect Sirius voice commands concern, we now have a user-installed file that you can download to a USB (flash or thumb) drive. To download the Sirius Voice Command Update file, please follow the steps below:

Download the Sirius Voice Command Update file, which can be found here: http://www.syncmyride.com/siriuschannelnamepatch/BT4T-14D546-GA.zip

When the download is complete, unzip the file to a flash drive. NOTE: Be sure to unzip the file directly onto the flash drive, not into an existing folder.

To properly run the installation on your vehicle, please follow the instructions on the ReadMe.txt which can be found on the zip file. This is a temporary solution for this concern; I will post an update once a more permanent solution is in place.

NOTE: This user-installed file can be used for 2011 Ford Edge and Explorer, Lincoln MKX, and 2012 Ford Focus vehicles exhibiting the Sirius voice command concern."

That patch didn't work for me. I saw it apply the update, got the notification that the update was complete, then left for about 5 minutes. Upon returning, I could tell that the restart had happened (home screen changed), but saying "Octane" or "alt nation" still put me at the old station numbers.

UPDATE: Apparently, it's required that you have a blank USB flash drive. Even if you place it in the root of a drive that has content on it, the update doesn't seem to take. Once I blanked my flash drive and only loaded the patch, the update reported successful and ACTUALLY was successful.

Oh yeah!!! That worked

I had a blank thumb drive -
- downloaded the zip file to it,
- unzipped the files to the thumb drive, and then took it out to the Explorer.

Started the Ex, put the thumb drive into the media slot, took about 10 seconds to install the cab file.

Shut off the Ex and waited 30 seconds. Restarted. Sync screen came up and installed the updated.

Then it got a little frustrating. Sirius seemed like it was bricked. But finally, I switched over to FM, and then back to Sirius and it all works fine!!! Hit the button, say "ESPN Radio" and no more world news.

Thankfully, I didn't have to make the trip back to the dealer. While I like them, I'd rather not waste the time going down and back.

Hey guys,

Just to confirm what vegastime posted, the user-installed file can be downloaded at the following URL:
http://www.syncmyride.com/siriuschannelnamepatch/BT4T-14D546-GA.zip

NCSWolfpak, I’m glad to hear the update was successful! I’ve forwarded your feedback with the blanked USB flash. Thank you!

Edit: I looked into it and found that the blank drive shouldn't be necessary. I saw that you didn’t mention this step from the text file:

“4. Turn off your vehicle's ignition for at least 30 seconds so that the system can reboot.”

I wanted to check to see if you performed that as well. Let me know!

dco43054, I know what you mean about spending time going to the dealer and I’m happy everything went smoothly.

Hey Cory,

Without the flash drive being blank the auto-update didn't even occur. I had to manually start the update procedure (going to Info->Sync Apps -> Update application). Once that completed with the dialog pop-up stating the update was complete (and in this case it took about 1 minute to complete the update), I removed the flash drive and turned the car off for 4-5 minutes.

After clearing the flash drive, the update auto-started, the update took 10 seconds as mentioned in the readme file, and after the reboot worked as advertised.

I’m sure those details will be helpful as well; I will be relaying this to be further reviewed. Thank you.

I'm bringing this thread back because I just got around to trying the solution with a brand new Lexar 4 gig jump drive. Didn't work. Couldn't read it and in fact the car appeared to be offended by it. It told me to take it out. Now what?

Sounds like your jumpdrive is formatted incorrectly. There are different types of filesystems and some are formatted differently. There is NTFS, FAT, and FAT32 (for windows). Not sure which one MFT likes, but my guess is you have the wrong type. It should be a matter of just reformatting your jump drive, but I'm not sure how to do that.

Has Ford come up with some permanent solution or are we still expected to fix this ourselves, which I apparently can't do.

Steve1942, I want to look into jrmexplorer’s suggestion about whether it matters what file system it is. Until I get an answer back, did you unzip the patch directly onto the flash drive, not into an existing folder? Also, if you’d like to speak with an agent, you can call the In-Vehicle Technology Team (800-392-3673 - Option 1 then 3) for live troubleshooting.

Cory:

I unziped it into the empty jump drive. I'm at work now so I can't look at what I have but I believe there were four files on the drive including an .exe file.

Yes, there are four files but no .exe file. There should be two .cab files, one .lst file, and the ReadMe.txt file.

Cory

I was wrong. There is no exe file. These are the four files on the jump drive:

autoinstall.lst
Bt4t-14d546-ga
delayedreboot
readme

I’m sorry it took so long for me to find an answer to this Steve1942. I found that the USB Flash drive has to be formatted to FAT32. I hope that helps!

Cory

Thanks, but I haven't a clue whether it is formatted to Fat 32.

I still think that this shouldn't require a user to fix the problem. I'm going to bring the Explorer in to the dealer on another matter. Can they fix the problem?

Based on personal experience, Lexar USB storage drives haven't worked for my Ex. Kingston and Sandisk seem to work fine though.

Also, there's a handy tool called the HP USB Disk Storage Format tool. This little guy works MUCH MUCH better than the default MS Windows format tool for USB storage. I've also used it to fix corrupted SD mem sticks.
