Hey guys, I got a real headache goin on here with my explorer and im hoping you can help me with it. This isnt the first time i have messed with the speakers/headunit, so im not a rookie. Heres the situation, i have a pioneer headunit, pioneer 12 inch sub, and just picked up 4 alpine type s. I have replaced all speaker and stereo wires since they were old and worn. It had sony x plod lame speakers in it and it didnt sound very good on the driver side. Sounds like it was on a really low volume but the passenger side was really loud. Now i replaced them and they dont sound good at all, same problem with the driver side not working properly. they are rated at 210 watts i beleive and i know my headunit doesnt put out that wattage, but they sound almost blown? Any tips will be appreciated!

could be the channel on the hu. have u tried hooking the speakers directly to the hu

no i havent tried that. what do you mean my headunit chanel?

i'd say check all you connections and wires again, if you have corrosion in any connections or wires it will make the speakers sound really quiet, and statically. if not try running a tempary wire from the radio directly to the speaker, if it sounds alright then there's a problem with your wiring

I would definitely double check the wiring. Make sure you check that giant black connector in the door hinge. Wires are notorious for shorting out there.

sorry a channel is just o set of wires for the speakers if u hook up your speaker directly to the hu it will eliminate the wiring in the ex. if it sounds good then u know its in the wiring. sometimes one will get rubbed raw and be grounding out or like mentioned above could be a bad conection. and the door jamb would be the first place i would look

i will take a look at the wires through the door and what not. thanks for the heads up!
