I was thinking about getting new speakers in my truck and i checked out some Infinitys today at circuit city and they some really great..I have a sony cd player and just that.. I dont plan on getting any subs or anything, Just to replace the 4 stock speakers on my doors. Anyways do you guys think there will be a big difference in these speakers (infinity's) then the stocks... I want some feedback on them from the people that have some... Thanks

There will be a significant difference going from stocks to anything, unless you have a boss or monsoon system, but that's besides the point. I have infintys, you will notice a significant difference.

Any speaker upgrade is a whole lot better than stock...what Infinity's did you listen to??? That will help us find out who has the speakers that you liked and can give you their feedback.

But to answer your question, with an aftermarket headunit, yes, any replacement speaker will be better than stock...you will notice a world of difference...like night and day...

what size speakers are in a stock 92 xlt??? I want 6x9 but im quite sure their an oddball size

I have to disagree, I recently bought a pair of Infinity reference speakers from Curcuit City and was disappointed with the sound. They did sound a little more clear than the stock ones but they distorted at the same level as the stock ones. The difference was only slightly noticible also, not enough for me to be happy with a $100 pair of speakers. So I returned them.

i would go with alpine 5x7s i have them and work great!!

The stock size speakers are 6x8s, which Pioneer makes a nice set of 4 way 6x8s. I have the previous 3way models and love them and I know a few other members on here who like them as well.

Re:

Yes....get new door speakers. No.....dont buy from Circuit City. You Will Overypay buy 100%, the plus is you get a guarantee or get a full refund. However, if you buy from an Ebay store, you will pay much less than you will at Circuit City. MOST Ebay stores have guarantees. Speakers are hard to screw up, IE, you probably wont have a problem.

only thing I notice with the infinity's is you are going to loose some of the low bass that your radio puts out. I put a set in my ranger and I like the clearness that they put out, and since I have subs loosing bass didn't matter..

As far as speakers going to distort.. If you put them up loud enough any speaker will distort with the low amount of wattage that goes from a stock deck. If you want to play something loud and not worry about distortion you will need to get a amp to push them. A 4X35 watt amp is a drastic improvement in sound than what a stereo can put out..

I understand that any speaker will distort if turned up to much. But the Infinities distorted at the extact same level as the stock speakers. I figured I would be able to play them a little louder than the stock ones with my aftermarket HU. Ill prolly just get another pair cause I found a place here that sells them really cheap.

I have tried pretty much every speaker Out there, Coaxil and Component wise for the 5x7 locations in the explorers (front and rear). If you are going coaxil and dont want to spend alot of money I would reccomend the JL TR 2 way 5x7s, or the Pioneer 3 way 5x7's , As far as components go I have used Mb quart, infinity, Pioneer, Fosgate and JL . As far as I am concerned there is no match for the JL audio Xr 5.25 components, they are fantastic !

just cause you changed speakers doesn't mean that the new ones will distort less.. Distortion usually comes from clipping.. You are pushing your deck further than what it can play without distortion.. If you want to listen to it loud you are going to need to either turn the bass down (that will help a lot) or get amp..

Distortion will kill your speakers..
