New sports and kids

I am really really thinking about getting a new sport (like black magic's). I have a 4 month old and will need to keep the new X for a while. I was just curious if those of you with sports and kids wish you got the 4 door or is there more than enough room for carseats and all the other goodies. I really like the new body styles and the price on the sports is more within my budget than the 4 doors.

In have the 99 sport, and a 8 year old daughter.

Not a problem having only two doors and a child, but I do think to myselfs often at times if the four door would have been a beter selection for my needs. The older children have no probs climbing in & out of the sport as if they would still need to climb up into a four door. But for the convinience of a new born, I would recomend the four door versions just for the comfort of your wife and yourself ensureing the precious joy in your life is secured to the seating restraints.

Also, not sure with the gen 3's, but the back seats in my gen 2 don't lock into place from the folding mech when needing to lay the seating down. It's like these things were made to kick out those in the back when they need out by fliping forward. So this may be a precautionary for you?

Ahhh, you might want to get your back seats checked, if they are not locking in place. I have a 2000 Sport, (not much difference between the 99 and 2000 models), and my back seats lock into place. There is a lever on each side of the top portion of the back seats, that I have to manually lift, (each side), to unlock and fold the seats down. They then automatically lock back into the upright position, when I unfold them.

Hmmm... neat! I've always wondered, but never seemed to get the bottoms to lock back into place when folding the seats to the upright position. I assumed this is the way they they were manufactured, cause I've tried...

Now I know.
Thanks!

I say get a used 3rd generation 4 door or try to find a new 4 door for a good price. I see a one problem with 2 doors and kids, getting the kids out of the rear seats in a 2 door.

I like the 2001 sport because it had the new look but the old suspension so it could be lifted/lowered pretty easy. I guess im stuck with getting a four door then.

i babysat my cousin the other day and she had to be in a car seat, and let me tell you it was a PITA... espically since its cold outside....i was wishin i had 4 doors then, but lukckly it was only for that 1 day

I could not even begin to imagine spending the last 13 months in a two door. It was a wonderful day when I finally spun the child seat and had it facing forward. It's one thing to have a child climb into the back seat but do you want to climb back there with them every time to strap them in? Wouldn't be bad in a downpour because at least you are out of the weather but I would rather get wet then deal with the two door. You are a dad now and nobody will laugh at you if you are riding around in a four door. At least not to your face. Still better then a mini van.
