I am trying to install a new sub and amp in my 95 Explorer with the JBL sound system. I have the power wire run to the battery and properly fused. I have the amp grounded. My amp, a fosgate 360a2, has speaker level inputs so I am using the wires that were going into the factory amp. The problem is that I can't find a remote wire back there to connect to my new amp. By my logic there should be one for the old amp, but after spending several hours with a voltage meter, I can't find a switched wire. I know the problem is not with the amp because if I touch the remote wire coming off of the new amp to the power wire coming into the amp, the whole thing works. This is fine if I want to have to jump my battery every time I want to go somewhere, but I don't.
Does anyone know where to find the old remote wire on the factory system, or do I have to run it off of something else??

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm sorry but i'm not sure about where the remote lead on the factoy amp, someone told me that the two wires that go to the factory amp, one for power and the other one with it is the remote wire, but this source is not definite.

?? I actually was wondering how u conected your amp using the factory wires. I also have the JBL system, did you just unplug the harness from the old amp, cut it and attached RCA cables?? If so how do u do that if there are 3 wires on the harness. I'm not to sure if my amp has speaker level inputs, how do you know?? As u can tell by these questions i'm no expert on this stuff so i would greatly appreciate any help with as much detail as possible.

The three wires that come into the factory amp are red, white, and black. Red and white are the speakers, red is left and white is right. My amp has a seperate speaker level input, that comes with an adapter. The adapter has left + and -, and right + and -. If your amp has inputs that will take speaker wires then you might have the right kind of amp. Check the manual to be sure. I cut off the factory plug and spliced in the speaker level adapter and then plugged the adapter into the amp.
Hope this helps.
