Hi Folks i,m new here and to my Explorer ...its a 2000 model absolutly wicked to drive i loved it first time i saw it ..but i;ve heard bad things about them ...as for being called exploders?. something going wrong with cam chain tentioner?
its been LPG converted starts well,just lately i have noticed that the engine warning light is now on are they known to show for no reason it runs ok a bit idle on cold mornings to tick over but sound ok all gauges show normal what would it be telling me any body phsykic:salute:

Welcome to the forum. The early SOHC 4L engines (before 2001 I think) have a TSB on the cam tensioners. Other than that they are great. The previous version of the 4L with OHV are pretty much bullet proof and will run almost forever.

The check engine light can be anything from the gas cap not being on right to a bad oxygen sensor to major engine trouble. If it's running and sounding fine than it's probably something minor. You should pull the trouble code to get an idea of what's wrong.
