2007 Ford Explorer
We just got a 2007 Ford Explorer today to replace our 2002 Taurus station wagon which tangled with an 18-wheeler last Sunday night and lost. No serious injuries, so there is a lot to be thankful about.

We've always had a Ford in the family, so I'm pretty familiar with Ford parts and the way Ford does things. I just need to come up to speed on this particular model.

I'll start off with a concern I have. I have the 4.6 L V8 with 82K miles. Are the spark plugs as difficult to replace as I have heard? I doubt that the plugs have ever been replaced. Does this forum have a specific procedure for changing the plugs? Finally, does the forum have a recommended brand of replacement plugs?

Many thanks.

Thanks, Rick. That was the information I was looking for. I'll probably get one of the removal tools just to have on hand. The OTC tool looks like the best to me.

Between work schedules and vacation, I finally changed out the spark plugs on this 4.6L 2007 Explorer. By the time I got to it, the mileage was up to 91K. I ran two tanks of Seafoam through it first. Then I followed the Ford TSB to the letter. I used Aero-Kroil and allowed everything to soak for a couple of hours. I used a torque wrench set to 35 ft-lbs and started removing them. (I don't think I have ever used a torque wrench to REMOVE something) The wrench clicked a couple of times, but it kept me out of trouble. I put the new plugs in using the specified Motorcraft anti-seize compound. I don't think I'll wait this long before I replace this set of plugs.

Thanks for your help.
