Hi to all, found this forum through a search while looking for info on troubleshooting/replacing driver's side door lock actuator.

I did a search here on the forum and did not come up with anything so I thought I'd ask.

I've got an '02 4-door explorer XLS 2wd V6. Driver's side door lock not working (lock or unlock) with the remote. Will work by turning key in door, the old fashioned way. Have had intermittent problems with it for the last 3-4 months (maybe once a month) but now seems to have bit the dust.

All the info I can find online about replacement refer only to a 2-door sport model, and parts I find say they only fit that model. Is there anything different about the 4-door??

Thanks for the help.

Should also mention I surfed a bit while I was here and found all kinds of info about adding auxilliary lighting to the explorer, which is great info. Have a new project in mind once I get door lock fixed!

My heep did the same thing last year . .
I had to replace the actuator/lock assmbly, i had 12v and a good ground at the lock but it still didn't work, A common problem are the wires going from the door to the A pillar check for frayed wires. Its an '02 getting up there maybe the Actuator did die.
I would pull the door panel off and check the voltage, inspect the wires before i bought one.
And i don't think the 2-door would work as its really a different model. Try a junkyard maybe,
