I will be picking up a 2011, fully loaded, Limited in a couple of weeks. Vehicle has 67k on it and has only had basic maintenance performed thus far - tire rotations and oil changes.

At this point, what likely needs to be done? I can tell the original tires are close to needing replacement. They were close to the wear bars. Anything else that I should be paying attention to on this vehicle?

I am considering the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alzena Plus tires. Any experiences? Also, how are the OEM 20" rims on the limited? My old vehicle had soft rims and, with a 45 series tire, I was bending one rim a year on rough roads. The limited has a 50 series tire, stock, on the 20" rim. I am hoping the extra "meat" will help protect the rim, but I am also hopeful the 20" rim is more durable. Any experiences with the rims and these tires?

Thanks in advance!

If the car was properly maintained, it shouldn't really need anything at 67K. I'd take it in for "The Works" and have the oil changed, all fluids checked, and brakes, belts, etc. checked. If it was me, I would have had the seller replace the tires before I bought it.

Thanks! Replacement tires were taken out of the purchase price...

Shumax,

I've got 2-2011 Explorers (XLT's) and the only thing I've had to do is the basic maintenance.

Did a couple of TSB's for radiator fan replacement, and HVAC door not working propertly on one of them. But unless it HVAC acts up, engine over heats, then you don't have those issues to contend with.

Other than that, it's been "good to go".

Good luck. I think you'll love the car.

You can check out the maintenance requirements in it.

Thanks for the help! Does anyone have thoughts on the tires?

I replaced the OEM Hankooks on my 2011 Explorer LTD with the Yokohama Parada Spec-X the day I picked it up from the dealer. Very good tire with a more aggressive tread than the Hankooks. They are also a 'directional' tire.
