2001 Ranger XLT 4 X 4
Just bought my first Ranger. It's a 2001 XLT 4 X 4 stepside. I really like it so far and it's intended to be my daily driver. I'm a long time Ford owner having had 2 previous half-tons (both lasted well over 200,000 miles). I also own a 1979 F-350 flatbed with 65000 actual miles that still looks showroom condition. I also hang out at the Model A forums because my pride and joy is my 1931 Model AA ton and a quarter truck (not showroom but very driveable and a lot of fun).
Does anybody have any thoughts as to the longevity of the 4.0 L engine. This Ranger had 165K miles on it and I'd like to make it last so any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Many of our members have 250k+ on their 4.0s. They're generally very long lasting engines.

Last time I checked I was just at 230K myself Definitely should not be hard to get the rest of your vehicles up to at least 250k before you decide to trade up!
