'99 LTD AWD, 99 EB 2WD
Hey guys, I am new here, not new to the explorer, I have have had a 97 EB 2WD 99 EB 2WD (V6s), and now have another 99 EB 2WD V6 and just bought an AWD 99 Limited V8.

Well they both need tires and I am wondering how big I can go and still have a nice quiet ride.

What can I do for better mpg on the limited with the V8 and the AWD? 15 mpg sucks

Both have noise coming from the front wheels, I assume its wheel bearings.

the Limited needs the drivers door lock actuator replaced. how do you get it out?

otherwise love these trucks

31x10.5 is the biggest you can go on a stock X, might rub a bit every truck is different but 31x10.5 is the biggest, and if you want a quiet ride get some kind of A/T i like my BFGoodrich

get an intake, exhaust, tuner

what kind of noise? sorry to answer with a question

when i took mine out of the back door i just pulled it out, it was really hard to get out but it lost, i broke it but it wasnt working any way

and welcome to the site there is tons of great stuff here

thanks for the reply, the actuator is in the front door, the rivet is weird looking, drill like normal? replace with regular rivet?

the noise is a moaning it might be the tire, but both Xs are doing it, one is 2WD the other AWD.

also getting a bit of vibration from the AWD.

thanks

If your worried about gas mileage you shouldn't go bigger in tire size.

Yeah good point. I will likely go with the stock size, especially since it looks like 2 sets of tires and shocks all the way around on the EB and fronts (the AWD has load leveling) on the LTD AWD. Plus I think the LTD needs an alignment.

Where can I ge a deal on an intake and cat back system? does it have to specific for the V8? the intakes look the same to me.

thanks for the advice, even if you are a Pi Kapp. Hey if you can be a Pike be a Pi Kapp!

i have a K&N intake about $220 if i remember correctly, K&N makes an intake for the v-6 but not the v-8, look at www.explorerexpress.com they should have some, and for the exhaust find a muffler you like and take it to a shop i have a magnaflow and i bought my muffler through the shop and spent $250 but had i just bought the muffler it would have been a good bit cheaper.
