2000 mountaineer/ 2005 Av
Hi there I have read a lot of threads on this forum after i Bought my first Explorer a 94 but i had never posted anything. the 94 has been long gone and i currently have a 2000 awd Mountaineer and a 2005 Aviator. I am glad to be here.
I have a question for you guys.
I have a low break pedal on my mountaineer so i decided that is was time to get new pads. I took off the front wheels and removed the calipers. the pads did not look all that bad but i already bought the pads at the local ford dealer so i decided to go ahead and install them . here is the problem

once i reassembled the brakes the front brakes drag. But it is as if the brakes were applied i thought if i took it around the block things might fit into place. Well no luck. the front brakes are still locked up any suggestions?

thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard.:D Check that the guide pins on the calipers move freely. A sticking guide pin can cause a low petal as it would not allow the caliper to fully clamp the rotor. So it would require more petal to stop the truck. The low petal can also be caused by old contaminated brake fluid. Every 5 years I bleed the system on all my vehicles.

thanks Hitman46mod i will look at that tomorrow morning.

brooklynbay the wear was even on both sides.

welcome larry
