2003 Sport Trac
Hey guys, first post here but long time creeper lol. I had a few questions about a sport trac I just bought. I bought a 2003 sport trac with all the options, and it has 120,000 miles on it. It was pretty well taken care of but I got a very good deal and it does have some issues. I figured what better place but to ask some experts here! Here is a couple things I was wanting to know if anyone else had these problems.

-The rear window will not work at all, nothing happens when you do the knob. I checked the fuse so far but nothing else.

-truck seems like it has no power up to about 2500 then just kicks you into the seat, you can tell it does it even at part throttle. Just kinda feels like its a dog even when you floor it until about 3000 rpms and comes on strong from there. It does have a little shake sometimes at idle but it seems it idles low around 500 rpms when it does it, when it idles around 800 or so its fine.

-Lastly, sometimes at night the dimmer switch will be turned all the way up but the lights will dim themselves without the switch moving.

Anyway, thanks in advance, and I look forward to being a part of this community.

The motor is probably shot on the rear window. Common issue. I'm sure there's a thread or two on here about it. Search the '01-'05 subforum.

Clean the MAF, throttle body and IAC. That's cheap and quick work that probably needs done even if it's not the root cause of your issues. It's where I'd start, though. Search the main forum using the Google search bar at the top for information on doing these. If that doesn't help out, report back. I'm sure others will chime in with other things to check. Spark plugs/wires will probably also be mentioned...

I hate electronic stuff...I'll leave the dimmer switch to someone else.

Thanks man, I am going to be doing all the "normal" service to it over the next couple weeks since I don't have service records for it. Im going to do a oil change, trans flush, coolant flush, new plugs, new wires, and I will definitely check/clean the things you mentioned and report back.

doing a 100k tune up would be my first action. if you are still getting the loss in power, you might have some tranny problems. tune it up, and hope for the best! as for the rear window, im sure doing a search on rear wind motors will pull something up.
