New Work Done Again With Pics

you spent that kind of money, because you bought the name, and a rediculously over priced kit direct from the manufacturer etc etc...

custom exhaust shops will vary in price, and a true 2.5'' CBE is well worth the money spent. plus the exhaust will almost pay itself off in extra mpg, once you lose the lead foot after install lol

and do yourself a favor when your under the X, remove the resonator if you have one. the exhaust will sound, and perform better...

Cald...
You're right about that. Name brand exhausts much more expensive. I try to buy my exhausts off of ebay.
My brother got a magnaflow from Streetwise autoparts, listed for $600 from magnaflow, he got it for $300

yeh 1992 ex lol

Fedy,

also idk if your a die hard flowmaster fan or not, but IMO magnaflow will give you better perfomance...

Flowmaster mufflers design makes sound, by having baffles and chambers. Magnaflow is a simple straight thru design for optimum flow, with just some sound reduction material wrapped around the pipe inside, and also doesnt sound raspy...

purely just a suggestion fella, i love the sound of a V8 rumble regardless...

The best thing to do for exhaust is have a local shop build the system, and have them install, say a magnaflow if thats what you want. Or whatever muffler fits your liking.
That way you aren't paying $50 per foot for a pre-bent cat back exhaust that might not even fit well.

Yeah I had my exhaust done from the cat all the way back with a FM50 SUV and tip for $220. Thats a steal!!!

Good price. Maybe I'll head to the exhaust shop one of these days to get an exhaust put on my X too. But local exhaust shops are the best way to go, unless the guy at the desk tells you his exhaust shop sucks. (happened once) lol :D

MillerTime,

is 220$ what you spent for the muffler, custom piping, and tip ?

or just a muffler/tip install ?

Yeah I've heard a few 4.0l with the FM 40 and wasnt a big fan of the sound. Too raspy and loud for me. Went with the FM 50. Very quiet at idle but will growl on the gas!

Custom piping and all the above.

Maybe I'll have to invest in that. Did you get your exhaust done at a chain exhaust shop or local?
I think a $220 I could afford an exhaust.

Miller..
Your explorer's exhaust looks good. Nice stainless steel piping on there.

It was just a local shop with a guy who was really into custom work and took joy out of the build and not the money. He was an 4x4 guy too so he was really interested in helping me out. Not too many 3rd gens on the trail...

You can say that again. I will say I admire your explorer. You've done just what I want to do to mine (lift, exhaust). I'll have to talk to SPS tire. They do a lot of off-roading, but labor is $79.00-89.00/hr. Better go talk to midas and SPS tire for a quote. Got off-topic there.

hey Fedyfedz, how many layers did you put on your tail lights? looks like a pretty light coat but I like that a lot better than completely blacked out.

I beleive it was 5 or six very light coats

Get an exhaust pipe cutter at harbor freight or somewhere else if you don't have one makes cutting exhaust off easy. In my opinion, you could cut the resonator off in a parking lot, but I can guarantee it'd be easier and there would be more work space if you got it on a lift or in a shop.

Just got new led taillights

those tails do look pretty good

Fedy, the link you posted about that exhaust, that is the exact kit that ZERODEVIL is running on his X, and im running that same muffler on my V6 right now, with custom piping...

that kit is 450$ + Shipping + Install Labor ( if a shop is going to install it for you ). thats gonna be exspenive...

I would go online and buy the muffler you want, then look for a local exhaust shop and see what it would cost for the muffler install, and 2.5'' pipe job... if you can go that route, then you would pay roughly 450$ total or even less maybe. instead of paying 450 just for the kit alone...
