Hi peps. New here and it's my 40th b-day today. :)

I replaced my upper and lower control arms on my 99 Mountaineer the other day because they were shot. The new joints have grease fittings. My newbie question of the day is how do I know how much grease to squirt in there?.

Thxs for any reply.

Happy Birthday! Usually just a few pumps will do it...just watch the boot, you will see it expanding a bit. If you put too much in, it will just ooze out, and you wipe off the excess. Have a good day.

A little hint about what grease to use. I use the heavy red grease. In AZ it was originally used for back hoes. Chevron is but one name brand. I used it in any number of big trucks, and in the ball joints and u-joints of my pickups. It is a little stiff to use in cold weather, but it holds up much better., and you don't have to grease every 3000 miles.

If you'll use a synthetic grease, you'll probably only have to grease every 10,000 to 15,000 miles.
