Newbie coming from Mustang to Explorer. Have questions.

Okay, I'm going to be going from a 97 Mustang GT to a 95-96 Explorer so I am not used to wanting to put a lift on a vehicle. It's all new to me. I'm getting this as a family vehicle so safety is an issue, but I'd like a small lift to set me apart from the other stock Explorers. What would be the best set up for me? I've already seen that 31x10.50 tires are going to help. What type of lift am I looking for and where do I want to get the parts?

welome!!! 31' should fit without a lift. but id recomend doing a torsion twist in the front and shackles in the rear. for about 2 inches of lift. do a search on lifts here and you will find lots of info.

I looked through a lot of threads that might pertain to what I'm looking for. But they had specifics like 2wd, or 2-door, or 99+. I really don't know how that effect my search.

Is there anything specific I am looking for when searching for "torsion twist or tt" or "shackles"?

well once again i overlooked the year of your truck. i dont think you can put shackles on a 2003. and im not sure about tt. sorry i dont know much about the new ones except there hard to lift. id try searching 03 tt, or 3rd generation tt or shackles.

Look again. He doesn't have an '03.

Ha. He joined in 2003. He wants a 95-96.


Any rear suspension lift will be the same for a 91-01 4 door.

Front suspension for 2nd gens go:

3" spindles are for 95-01 2WD
4" lift kits are for 95-01 4WD
Body lifts will fit anything
Same with TT
