Newbie door code don't work

Got a 01 sport trac last week. New to posting and need help with this problem. Got door code from book in dash and defrost vent to confirm and code doesnt work. Lights come on but doesnt work even hitting 7/8 and 9/0 dosent lock doors either. Whats next step help .....

Also, keep in mind for future issues that you have what is referred to as a Job 2 model of the 2001 year. (if the module was under the dash/defroster vent= Job 2, on the back panel under the window =Job 1 )

I did recently figure out the 9/0 button doesnt work so Im not
able to reset to factory code without it. It's been raining the last two days so I waiting to pull door cover off and do some investigating. Are the wires soldered or do they plug in to the door code panel. Tks
