- 2005 Ford Explorer LTD
Hi all,
New to the forums.
Just recently picked up a 2005 Ford Explorer Limited, to replace a Mercury Mariner which got too small with a wife, 4yr old, and newborn lol.
This is my 3rd Explorer, in the last 13 years Ive had a 1998 Explorer Sport and a 2002 Explorer eddie bauer.
I work in management at a large retailer but my side passion is autos and aviation. With my dad weve rebuilt a ton of vehicles since I was a kid; for Fords it was a 1965 Ford F100 (totally rebuilt original 352 V8), and 1958 Ford F100 (fully rebuilt 292 Y Block) which had a 3 speed manual column shift and I got pretty good at driving. Current project we're doing on the side is a 1987 Jeep Wrangler full rebuild, hopefully be done within 10 years (with 2 kids seems harder and harder to find free time).
I enjoy doing as much work as I can on my own vehicles, already have the factory shop manuals for the 2005 explorer en route. My stepdad was a head service tech rep at Ford for 20+ years and is always giving me advice as well (he worked for Ford from the early 80's-2007), and already talked about the 4.0L SOHC engine for 2 hours when I saw him last.
Look forward to being here
