'92 Eddie Bauer
Hi everyone.

I've just bought yesterday a '91 red Eddie Bauer, and re-imported it from Switzerland to France. 253.000 kilometers and so, few rust, but runs quite nicely.

I've got few questions, about this vehicle:
Has that 4.0 V6 a timing belt or a timing chain? what about services on the timing? I don't own a service manual in French, just in German (and I don't speak German) Could someone give me a www link where I can find a french ou english .pdf book, please?

Do you know serious internet sites where I could order spare parts for this SUV cheaper than Ford-France sells them (should be easy: )

Do you know where I can find all datas about repairing and maintenance, included all spareparts references (except of course the local Ford dealer)

Thanks for your replies

Welcome!

Welcome to the Explorer Forum. This is the best place to get information about modifications and repairs. It is also a great place to chat about our favorite vehicle.

The '91 engine is an overhead valve (OHV) and it uses a timing chain. It does not need adjustment unless it actually fails.

I use the Haynes repair manual which is printed in English and may also be available in French.

For parts, try http://fordpartsnetwork.com. I do not know if they ship to France.

Do you get many Explorers in France ? I'm due to drive down to the South in January and wonder if I'll see many on the way :)[/QUOTE]

I've already seen some, but they are not very common. You may find more Toyota and LandRover products!

I've just seen one this afternoon (new body, should be a 2002, registered in Germany) hauling a big 5.60 m caravan around Colmar (near french/german border)
