I thought I would post an intro.:wavey: My name is Ted and I'm a Fordaholic.:D

I'm located in southern Minnesota.

I don't own an Explorer. But I've got a project and after some research I'm considering using an Explorer chassis. I was doing some searching and found this website. It looks like a good source for info.

My project is a 54 Ford F100 that I'm building into a 4x4 for a year round daily driver/parts hauler/cruiser. So far I've got most of the body parts, a mild 351W out of a 84 F250, A NP435 grany low 4spd manual transmission and a NP205 transfecase out of a 78 F250. I've been looking for a Ford 4x4 chassis that had the same wheelbase as the 54's original ( 110" ) . From my searching the Explorer's wheelbase looks the closest.

I've been searching for pictures of both the first generation and second generation Explorer 4 door chassis without the bodies on. Not much luck so far. I'm still not sure if a first generation or second gen would be better for my project.

Enough of my babbling. :D

I just purchased a used 2000 Explorer XLT which has a few problems. I am looking forward to learning as much as possible about this vehicle

Welcome to this forum! Take pictures of each step of your project, and make a build thread.

Thanks for the welcome. I made a build page for the truck when I was going to build it into my tow rig. You can check it out here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3096478/1 . But last fall I picked up a 91 F-Super Duty( F450 ) with a diesel to use for my tow rig. So now it gets to be my daily driver ( If I can get it finished ) . :D

When I pick up an Explorer chassis I will definitely post a build thread.
