Hello everyone,
I'm a new member here. I've found these forums have been a great deal of help with my superduty, and now I need help with my girlfriends vehicle. She has a 2002 explorer xlt and both driver side windows will not work. The motors still work but they have a nasty grinding noise. Today the front window stopped going all the way up and since it's winter I can't have that. I took the panel off to try and figure what was causing the window to not go up. It looked like there are steel cables to lift and lower then window and that one of the cables is broke.

Is the issue getting the motor out and replacing that or can the cables be replaced? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks for the reply,
The motor still works, and there is a grinding noise when I use it, it just barely moves it up and down, and actually at one point it was going up when I controlled down. With the panel off I could see the cables sticking out of the motor, and at one point it looked broken. I think I'm just going to have to replace the motor anyway, but was seeing if anyone else has had this problem.

i have this problem on both my rear doors. The mechanical arm for both has broken and i am trying to find out how to replace them and the best place to get the mechanics only as the motor works fine. Just grinds and clicks!
