I have recently bought a new aftermarket head unit from Crutchfiled with the harness and everything. I hooked up the stereo and was totally satisfied with how well the install went until I found out that my dash lights were not working. Everything else works great. I have checked fuses in my box for instrument cluster and everything seems to check out. One other thing that I am not sure of is that the wiring harness I received from crutchfield only took two of the plugs that came out of the factory stereo and I just left the one extra unplugged. Would this cause the issue? What is it used for? Any information you can give me on an 02 Sport Trac stereo install would be awesome. Thanks.

Go back and check all your connections too. Check to see if the deck changes when you turn the lights on also. It's a far fetch but maybe it blew the bulbs in the dash. I had this happen on a honda the other day.

On the harness that plugs into the factory plug (the one that came out of the factory radio) what did you do with the orange? orange/white? and orange/black if they are there?

It is also possible that the pins are not seating correctly into the harness. Crutchfield has an extremely helpful customer service line, you might call them and be sure that they sent you the correct harness.

Thanks

First off, Thanks for all the quick responses and support. I got it figured out. It was definately the orange/ orange white wires. I disconnected these from the harness and taped them off everything is back to working status. Thanks again.
