You can do a 302 V8 swap

Do a search on this site and also look in the "links" section of this site for The Ranger Station for tons of info on 302 swaps.

The 302 swap is the most logical swap for your truck. No swaps are cheap or easy...but 302 would be cheapest and easiest for your truck. Expect to spend at least $4000 on parts alone. Could be higher if you decide to soup up the engine and trans.

With your 95 truck, you have a frame and body set up for the 302, as the 302 V8 was added to stock trucks starting in the 1996 model year. So you're set up for it already.

You will probably want to swap engine, transmission, and wiring harness if you're going to do it. You can use any donor vehicle with a 302 in it; 1996-2001 Explorers, 1989-1994 Mustang, early 90's Lincoln Mark 7 all had good solid fuel-injected 302s. Avoid 302s from Lincoln Continentals and the like. You can use a 302 from an earlier vehicle (like an 88 stang) but it won't be mass air and even older would be carburated.
