Firstly hello everyone!

For my sins i decided to buy a 98 x yesterday, and although im averagely ok on car mechanics, ive never had anything bigger than a 3.2 Jag up til now!

As i dont have an owners manual, ive got a few numty questions:

1) rear cd changer - is missing - anyone recommend a reasonably priced unit that will fit?
2) tailgate window - cant open, presumed key in pushbutton turned to left and pushed in would open but not! have i missed something?
3) rear fog lights - button illuminates when pressed but no lights - bulbs look ok - is there a common fault on these or am i gonna have to play with the meter???? Where is the fuse and what number?
4) tyres - im not gonna use her offroad, whats max tyre size i can fit without clearance probs and anyone recommend good deal?
5) rear suspension - am i right in saying there is an auto-height switch somewhere?? she sits level and feels ok tho.
6) service - anyone recommend a garage/mechanic that actually knows about these things in south wales ? and how much can i expect to pay for minor/major service? she's on 62000 miles at mo so presume a nminor req'd soon.

phew, sorry to bore everyone but that'll get me moving for now!

cheers
marty

Welcome

There is a 2 CD autocangers on ebay at the moment, the pushbutton opens the glass but I have never used a key it should also unlock by pushing the remote unlock twice.
Not shure about the rear fog light or tyres.
The rear susspention is fully automatic, the only switch (which is located next to the jack in the rear) turns it off while you jack up the truck.
I had a major 60000 mile service at Fords £500.

Hope this helps some.

Yes, the 60,000 mile service is the biggie! ALL oils & fluids, spark plugs and all filters. 'Minor' services at my local Ford dealers cost around £120 for engine oil & filter change. Everything else is 'inspect and change if neccesary'. Basically, they change the oil & filter and then give it a good tyre kicking for the £120. Only the 60k service specifically says change everything. And they charge about £600 for the privelege...
