would someone care to point out the differences between, XLS, XLT, Limited, and Eddie Bauer?

XLS was introduced in '99 as the base model for Explorers. It has the basics. XLT is a trim above it, it has the normal extras such as power windows and door locks, more supportive seats, and tinted windows (optional on XLS). I believe there's an option package for the XLT also which includes fog lights, cd/cassette player, high series console, etc... The Eddie Bauer gets no cost option leather seats, trip computer located at the high series center console, Mach sound system rated at 290 peak watts, steering wheel mounted audio, climate, and cruise controls, automatic climate control, and Homelink transmitter. Options include a sunroof, park assist, and rear load leveling suspension. Limited is about the same as Eddie Bauer but has memory seats and the seats are different from the rest of the Explorer line. I hope this answers your questions.

My XLT has a single in-dash CD player, fog-light, and what is it I believe to be the high end console. It also has rear AC controls. Now if only I could get memory seats...

back in the 1st gen era, a 94xlt got you the leather steering wheel, cast aluminum clear coat rims (probably with all models), 4wd stuff, and a "really good" stereo system.

Though i dont know for sure if you get that with either model, but meh.
