Hey, I'm new to the forum and am having a problem with my 2000 Explorer Sport. The turn signals/flashers only work when the tilt steering is in the top position and the windshield washer no longer works. Could this be a multifunction switch problem? Also, the left turn signal does not always work when the tilt steering is in the top position. I've checked the fuses, and all fuses seem to be good.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am no wiring guy but if it all works fine when the tilt is up and does not work when its down, Then it sounds to me like some wires are getting pinched in there. If it were me I would take the cover off and have a look at what the wires are doing when you move the tilt up and down. Just my 2 cents.

I had an intermittent turn signal problem when I got my truck. I bought a new turn signal/wiper stalk and when i went to replace it, I noticed that some wires had backed out of the harnesses and were no longer making a connection. I snugged the wires back into the harness and everything worked as normal, again. I'd take the plastic covers off of the steering column and check the wires going into the back of the harnesses. You may have a loose wire that will cause only occasional operation.
