next SF bay area run?

I'm thinking about staying all weekend, if I can find someone else to wheel with on Sunday (prefer a built machine, so we can do some of the more gnarly stuff).

Mac it is the first one if you come off of I-25 from 101 in to Hollister. It will be on the left hand side of the road with the out side playground thing. Also for a reminder there is no store or any thing in Clear Creek so bring what you need, it is camping at it's finest. I love it.... I can't sleep at night now, I want to go so bad....

Time to wake this thread back up!

If you are in the SF Bay area (or willing to drive north from Southern California), mark your calendars! May 20, 21 will be the next run, and we are going to Clear Creek BLM area! Mac, me, and I believe Gi are going to camp over, so come on down on either days if you want to run trails!

Mac and I went down a few weeks ago to find it (never been there, had no idea what's like or where it's at). We found it, tried a few trails, and noted how far from civilization it is! I will be bringing a 5gallon gas can, along with 6 gallons of water (at least). Mac is planning on bringing gas and water too. I'd recommended everyone to bring at least a gallon of water for each person with them. Please also note that the nearest gas station is 30 miles away.

Mac was thinking about driving in from King City, since it's closer to him that way (and easier, when your pulling a trailer). We will have two meeting spots; meeting spot #1 will the previous mentioned McDonalds in Hollister, meeting spot #2 will be the first campground you run into in Clear Creek (that's before the OHV staging areas). I'll be at meeting spot #1 at 9am, a little after 10am for the campground. Again, please make sure your gas tank is totally full, even if your on 'Full', before heading to Clear Creek.

Mac was trying to get the topo map BLM has in Hollister; I haven't talked to him for a few days, so I'm not sure he got it (yet).

As for saturday night, I'll bring enough hamburgers/buns for everyone, if you post your coming, and can stay for dinner. If you want something else, just post what you want, and we'll see what we can do (I don't think we can get a pizza delivered that far... :-)

See you all in two weeks!

A friend of mine will be going. He drives a built Jeep off-road. BEFORE ANYONE STARTS MOANING, he is also a Ford guy through and through (actually come to think of it, he is a performance guy and an off road guy) and tows his Jeep with a F250 w/1 ton tow package w/460ci V8. He turned me on to this list and has helped me out with a few problems on my explorer. I went camping with him in Panamint down by Death Valley last Thanksgiving (one of his many yearly treks, my first 4 wheeling experience) and teaches a 4x4 safety clinic in Hollister. He is VERY pro Explorer and was stoked to hear what I bought and checked out a few things one it. All in all, Joe is a VERY cool dude and I'm glad he is a friend.

I have another friend that just recently purchased a YJ Jeep as well who *might* go. Not sure yet.

XR600dude, please send any updates to the proposed caravan down from SJ/Campbell to my new email address listed in my profile (I just left my old job and start my new job next Monday).

I will be camping as well, but I will have about 5 or 6 others with me so we will bring food as well. I will meet DCider at the park and ride at Camden and 85 at 8am and we will be at McD's at 9am to meet up with every one. If you need to I know a good store in Hollister that I like to stop at and get some ribs for lunch that day. Let me know what you all think. P.S. congrads DCider on the new job. Dead Link Removed

Oh, now that everyones vack from Moab we can talk again. I haven't got the topo map yet, I will get that next week. BARB-Q it is. I guess I'll throw my gas grill on my trailer as well. Moab looks great and I am just jealous I couldn't make it. I am also going to be bringing my 8mm video camera and a small TV for saturday night ET so if anyone has videos they want to share, let me know if I need to pack a standard vcr as well.

Hey Tom, did you have everything tied down this time? Can't wait for the camp fire stories Dead Link Removed

Guff: directions to hollister are easy - south on 101, till you hit hwy 25. take hwy into hollister. when you see a mcdonalds with lots of explorers, stop. I'll be driving down from Oakland - if you want to meet up here, and follow down, let me know (email tadavis@veriomail.com) and we can come up with a meeting spot.

DCider: bring him on down! Just remember, he's too light to pull/winch any explorer out - but that shouldn't be any problems.

Anyone else (KVO? Ray?) come on down for at least one day! This will be fun, fun, fun till someone takes me keys away.. :-)

7 more days.. and counting! (so excited - I get my winch tuesday too!)

I don't know ba, you might want to ride with me unless you want to sit in the middle of the back seat in Tom's rig, holding on to both OH SH#$ bars. According to the ford rep in Moab, that's what he waned to do.

Hey all I can't wait to go. I got my CB working again and I will be on channel 5. I will also have some Talkabouts with me for the bikes. I know another camp spot called Indian camp, it is further in Clear Creek but it has a cool hill right next to it and a creek across the front of it. It would be large enough for all of us. The first camp ground has a lot of gravel in it, and will not be as much fun for any one using a tent. Talk to you all later. PS Dcider I could not find your email address, But I am still planing on metting you at the parking lot at 85 and Camden.
