- 2000 mountaineer 5.0 awd
I just replaced my motorcrafts and decided to try iridiums. Old plugs had 70k on them, I noticed my gas mileage decreasing slightly and harder starts.
I checked the gap after removing, and every plug was in the .60 to .65 range
The 5.0 definitely starts easier with new plugs and magnecor wires, and I got avg 18.9 mpg on a 50 mile round trip test drive.
I didn't notice any performance gains, but it ran great with old plugs also.
If anyone was wondering how the 5.0 would act with iridiums, so far so good!
