I have a 99 Ranger with 5R55E transmission. It has no hold back in first gear when dropping off a hill. I mean the engine will idle and your speed will increase you casn shift it in 2nd and it will take hold and hold you back. It shifts fine in all gears and has been this way for a couple of years. I do a lot of towing with it so I keep the fluid changed every year which i do my self. I have talked to a few transmisson shops and they don't know what is causing it. the truck has about 140,000 on it but i must say everything alse about the transmission works fine. I have adjusted the bands with no help any ideals.
