I am having a problem with my 4x4.

When I turn the knob to 4 wheel high it does not turn on the 4x4. The light doesn't even come on saying that it is engaged. I have tried taking the negative off the battery cable for twenty mins. I have checked all the fuses. They are good as well.

Anyone else have that problem? What do i need to do to have it fixed and what have you done to have it fixed if it has happened to you? I really want to fix this and if anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

I look forward to your responses!

It is common for the solenoid (or electric shift motor or whatever it is) that shifts the transfer case to fail.

I sometimes have the same problem, it has a mind of its own, some days is works others it doesnt. but I read that it is the 4x4 module located on the right hand side kicker panel. It is common for them to go out. you have to purchase a new one (sometimes) for around like $250 from ford.

Kicker panel

What do you mena right side kick panel. i took the dash apart where the module is, and it seems that, that switch is not getting power. I inspected the wires and there is no discoloration or fray. I thought it was the electric switch? I have no changed out the switch yet though.

dont take my word for it but i just read somewere it was on the passenger side kicker, were your feet are... its a module that controls your four wheel drive. just google it or search this forum

Not the electronic shift motor everyone said it was.

Yeah so we installed the shift motor and that was not it. I just dont understand. This is becoming so frustrating. The dealer wants $100 just to look at it.

My mechanic said that Ford would have to re-program the 4x4 module underneath the hood to the right of the battery...

Please Help!
