Welcome To The Forum! There is a thread on here dedicated to trouble shooting first gen 4X4's. If you can hear a relay in the back clicking when you press your 4X4 button a quick thing you could try is having someone in the truck pressing the 4X4 button while you are under the truck tapping on the t-case with a hammer, don't go beating the hell out of it just tap on it, that sometimes gets them to shift into 4wd. You may then want to look into eventually rebuilding the shift motor or buying a new one for on it but sometimes once that method works it'll work for a long while.

try clicking into 4X4 and/or low range with the engine running and shift into neutral (holding the brake) then engage 4X4. This always worked for me.

But you might have a motor not kicking in, like what Glen4X4 is telling you.

I'm having a similar problem only I don't get the clicking sound from the module I tested the switch and it's good, I did the test on the module and it's saying that it's good, and I removed the drive motor from the transfer case and did the bench test and it worked, it moved from 2hi to 4lo and back but with everything in place nothing works. Can someone help me?
