No aftermarket shocks possible for my '97 EB??

I just bought a set of Monroe Reflex shocks at Murray's, and took them up to a repair shop to have them installed. They told me (my wife actually) that I couldn't use them; I needed special Eddie Bauer shocks from Ford. He estimated that they would be about $150.00 each.

Say it isn't so!!

WOW! These mechanics get better & better with the scams every day! I'd like to know if this is true as well, I cant imagine that it is though...

Do you have the air ride suspension? If you do, you can't use standard shocks (without eliminating the air ride suspension). I doubt if Ford is the only one that meakes shocks for it though, but they won't be cheap.

Yes, I do. What does the air ride suspension do for you, anyway? Is it something that I should keep?
