I've had my Hypertech power module on for 2 days. When i took the X for a test drive, it didnt seem like anything had changed, except for a horrible ping even with 93 octane. There is no noticeable power increase. And my tach goes crazy, bouncing between 3k to 4k at about 75mph. I noticed a bigger difference after my exhaust than with the chip. Is there something wrong with my chip, or was I excpecting too much?

S ounds like theirs something wrong with the chip. Your tach shouldn't be jumping around unless it was before you added the chip.

1) did you reset the computer properly?

2) call hypertech and confirm the part number with your computer code. Mine acted funny when I first installed my chip in 98 and I sent it back to them for a reprogram. Had it back in 4 days and it worked great!

Oh, and how much old gas do you still have in there? Any lower octane gas will mess things up.

did i reset the computer? well i disconnected the battery, but thats it. Is there something else i should do?

Battery should be disconnected for longer than 10-15 minutes. Then the truck should be idled with all accessories off for another 10 minutes before driven.

I had less than an 1/8th of a tank and filled up on 93. Could that be the problem, and if so, octane booster would fix it,right?

Ok, Alec. I did all that to no avail. The tach only revs at full throttle, not with "normal" pressure. Here's the thing...not the most accurate measurement but from this stopsign to a stop ahead sign I can make it right at 55 mph from a dead stop, no torque start. Now, I hit the sign at about 51-52. There has to be something wrong with the chip.
