My '92 Explorer has been running rough and dropping in mileage so i performed some regular maintenance (air filter, plugs, wires, new coil pack, cleaned MAF sensor and IAC valve). Still running like crap so I took it to Autozone for a diagnostic and the code "33" came up (EGR valve not operating). Problem was, no one at the store or myself could located the EGR valve, even after consulting the diagrams in a Chiltons. Any ideas?

That sounds like the same code that came up on mine some years back and my 91 doesn't an EGR valve either. Several of the great people here pointed me towards the Fuel Pressure Regulator. I changed it and cleaned the oxygen sensor and all was well. Mine went from 23 mpg to 13 mpg and ran pretty rough. It was putting as much fuel out the exhaust as it was burning.
Grateful

First gen ex's are known for fuel pressure regulators going out:(

EGR was added midway through the 93 model year. So no 91 or 92's came with EGR.
