No gears in 1994 explorer (A4LD)

Could this be the torque convertor or is is most likely the tranny is shot? If so where do I start with fixing it? Could it be a valve body issue or is it more serious than that?

Nobody has had a similar problem with an A4LD?

I could assume that you've already checked the fluid level, but I won't. Have you checked fluid level? Have you checked the linkage to make sure it is shifting at the transmission? Is the pump pumping (disconnect the lines for the transmission cooler and see if you have flow at the cooler)? Do you have the tools/skill to hook up a pressure gauge to see what kind of pressure the pump is generating (I haven't done it, but I thought there was a brief how to somewhere here)?

If it's not something simple, it's probably rebuild time.
