just yesterday I was driving home from work and I noticed that my temperature gauge was getting higher than it normally does but my heat was just blowing out cold air (it has been very cold the past few days here in Cleveland, Ohio). But anyway it never warmed up by the time i got home. The next morning i came outside and noticed a puddle of antifreeze on the garage floor. So talked to a few friends and we came to the conclusion that it might be the thermostat, so i changed it today but the same problem is still there. I noticed each time I let the truck run for about 5 minutes, it would leak most of the anitfreeze and water I had just put in the radiator only after i shut the truck off. So i tried just pooring water in the radiator with the truck off to see if i could tell where it was leaking out from. The water is coming out just above where the oilpan meets the block IN THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. Could this be a water pump sealing problem? Bad water pump? Crack in the block? I have no clue as to where the water could be geeting out. Also when it is cold outside the trucks speedometer will read at a much higher speed than what I am really traveling. for example I could be going 30mph and the speedometer will read 50 or 60mph. Please help I got to get to school and work Monday

Thanx BARI

Sounds like your waterpump is shot. You need to check to see if it is leaking out of the weep hole in the waterpump. This will confirm it. Otherwise, you may have a bad lower hose, or a blockage somewhere.

You had no heat and high temp readings because you were low on coolant. The thermostat itself wouldn't have caused that problem, unless you had a leak at the thermostat housing. You were right to fill the truck up and run it to look for the leak.

In all likelihood, the seal in your water pump has failed, and you'll have to replace the pump. That's why it appears that the leak is coming from the front of the block above the oil pan.

I'd go to someplace like Murray's Auto, or another auto parts store in the area to get the pump. They have a tool loaner program, and getting the big nut on the front of the fan pulley loose without the special tools can be a big hassle.

The only thing I could think of with the speedometer is that the mechanism in the dash is sticking when it's cold. You're right about the weather... I'm in Cleveland too.
