Hello my friends, I've got a couple '94s that I'm having transmission troubles with.
I need some advice and help from the experts out there.

First one - '94 Limited 2wd with 169k miles on it.
(I call it "Green" - think "Tourmaline" would just confuse people.)
I've owned it for about 18 months - put about 6k miles on it.
Changed the transmission fluid and filter shortly after I got it.

Sometime last April, I took a trip out of town and noticed it was no longer shifting into overdrive(4th).
Didn't note anything happening - no clunks, pops, or slipping - or any else different it was doing.
I've done a lot of reading and studying, but haven't been able to narrow down the cause of the problem yet.

Or course, I've checked the fluid level many times and made sure it's correct.
I've checked and done the band adjustment - nothing wrong there I noticed.
Checked the kickdown cable and the shift linkage and both seem like they're supposed to.
I've checked the signal from the computer - tapped an indicator light into the harness and it grounds out at the proper time.
I've pulled the pan and the valve body - checked for power at the solenoid - it was there, so the plug isn't loose. No screen blockage (there wasn't even a screen) but replaced the solenoid while I had it apart.

I think I've checked everything on the symptom list except for the overdrive servo.
I'm wondering if there is anything else that would clue me into a problem with the servo - before I just go tearing into it.

A couple more things to note that it's doing:
It seems I can feel a little light surging when it gets around the 3-4 shift point. Wondering if that's the fluid slipping past the servo.
Strange part here: I've tried manually shifting it - starts out in 1st just fine. Then shifts up to 2nd when the lever is moved. But when I move the level into 3rd (regular D), nothing happens. I have to move it up to OD for it to shift into 3rd. It does the same thing when downshifting - going down to D and it drops into second.

Green was my backup Explorer and I wasn't in a big hurry to fix it, but now I'm having trouble with "Black" (my primary Ex) and have been having to drive it.
(I'll go into Black's troubles on another thread.)
I'd like to get them both back up to 100%, but at my wit's end on this one.
I'm not a transmission expert by far, this is the first one I've actually been into it, but I've learned a lot from reading around on the board.

Appreciate any help or advice anyone can give.
Thanks to you all in advance!
