hello everyone,

My stock CD/AM/FM is not getting any power, although the lights in the radio (not the LED screen) come on. I tested another radio in the truck and that too isn't getting any power. Checked all the fuses in the truck and in the radio and they are all fine. I have a hunch the problem is not in the radio. What can i do? :(

Did you check the voltage coming from the connector?

yes

yes i checked the current at the car with a voltage meter and its getting power. Don't know waht it can be.

And what voltage did you measure from the connector?

it was 12V for the power feed.

K. So you have the correct voltage and the ground is ok? Then I would say it points towards the HU's. I'm not a stereo expert, but I do have an AS in electronics. Where are the stereo guys/gals???

Have you check the remote turn on lead from the ignition?
There is a wire that connects to the radio that only allows the radio to be on when the key is on. You should get voltage from that wire (I think it is blue) when the key is on or on accessory.
Other than that, check the wire at the point of connection to the radio, somethine they come loose inside the connecter.
Hope I helped and good luck!

One more thing, there is somewhat of a history of Explorer stock radios failing, so if all else fails, may be time to upgrade!!

Thats probably what the problem is. There are two power wires going to your radio, continuous and the switched. The continuous power is what would keep the clock on time, and the little led's on. The switched is what turns the unit on and provides the power to run the unit. I would bet that wire has a problem somewhere.
