'02 XLT
hello all...
my '02 xlt seems to get power but quickly bogs down. I am planning on doing the e-fan conversion soon since my fan clutch seems to be engaged full time. The cats are not even a year old so that should be marked off...
I am wondering if the torque converter could be the culprit. On very few occasions i can open up the throttle and it comes back to life. Basically, it only works smoothly if i baby it and stay out of the throttle. But still even then it gets the shuttering like it doesn't know if it wants to shift up or down...Oh, and its difficult to get it to downshift on hard throttle.
So sorry for such random points but this truck is driving me crazy...
After doing suspension work on her, I still cant track down the random popping and clanking from the front right side. changed upper and lower ball joints, complete shock assemblies, wheel bearings. The popping persists...

Sounds like it needs the transmission serviced to start. Fluid
Level correct?

That feels like a great place to start. The trans had been rebuild about 60-70k miles ago ( currently 200k). And I get the fluid level checked yearly at Aamco...( dont laugh). The first time i brought it to them, they couldnt find a problem and said that the engine probably wasnt producing enough power...But finally after the third time of arguing with them they found the level wasnt high enough.. since then, they got it right.
Considering its not too old, should i consider a flush or just a fluid/filter change?
oh, and since we're at it, since im not modding, is the e-fan feasible for a few mpgs?

I doubt it will free up a noticeable amount. Plus, it’s not the easiest mod. You’ll need a relatively thin one, need to adapt it to the shroud, and install some sort of fan controller.

ok cool...btw thanks for all the help...
do you think the hayden 2776 would be a decent fan clutch replacement or should i go big and get an oem one?
