no revers

hi just brought another ex it has no revers and a grinding on over run all forward gears. its a 1997 with 5r55e. iam sure this has been covered .but any help much appreciated. i would think it has a one way clutch that is slipping ? i now have 2 explorers one with u/s box one with iffy engine may make one and sell remaining part. shame as both nice cars has anyone got a gear box?and still after a couple of rockers to test the iffy engine. cheers Chris

hi yes its 4wd i dont think ford sold any 2wd explorers over here. cheers chris

Check the transfer case in addition to the gear box (transmission).
