It just started today. I was heading home from school and I was leaving the parking lot, I put it in reverse and nothing but grinding. Ever other gear is fine, 1st is a little tough, but reverse just grinds when I try to put it in gear. The only way I was able to get it in was to quickly throw it in.

I already have it up on rams but I don't know what to look for. Can someone please help? My RPM's idle around a little below 1K

I'm assuming that you have a 5 speed manual?
It sounds like the synchros are worn out to me, my buddy has the same problem and is working an rebuilding a tranny. He has switched his current one to synthetic 90W for the time being and it has apparently improved the problem, though reverse and second are still a PITA.

Look at your local junkyard, i can pick one up for $50 up here in idaho.

Sounds like your clutch is not releasing properly, I had a car that did that and if you stick your trans in a higher gear like 3rd then quickly stuff it into reverse you should be able to find reverse. I would look at the clutch cylinders to make sure you haven't leaked out any fluid etc. Might be able to get away with bleeding the system...

OK, well after checking it out a little more, I think a have a small leak and I am going to add some more fluid later. When I tried it again on the ramps, it worked fine. Gave it a nice test drive around town and runs fine. I am going to do an oil change soon so I'll change the transmission oil too.

Well, I checked the fluid level and it is fine. It did it again yesterday and I don't know what it could be. Does anyone know what could be causing this? When I an unable to shift into Reverse, I it extremely tough to put it in 1st. Could my Transmission be going? I have 118,684 miles on it.
