I know this has been discussed a lot on here but I'm having trouble getting my new head unit to work and I'm not sure what to do. I read through quite a few of these forums and couldn't find an answer that worked for my 2000 explorer XLT 4 door. I'm getting no sound so i went to find the amp to try and bypass it but I can't find it. It's not located behind the passenger rear panel. I looked on the other side but all I found was the security lock box. Then I tried to just jump the power wire to the radio ignition but I can't find a wiring diagram that shows which wire that is. I tried looking for a blue wire but there was none on my harness. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My 2¢…

Make your life easy, and just run new speaker wires from the head unit…

Yea, that's what I'm leaning towards at this point. But even so, knowing how my radio set up is better so I have a better idea moving forward. I was gonna take the panels out anyway to give them a good scrub down because they look awful. Any tips on making running it through the door easier?

Did you have the premium system with the amplifier and 8-in sub? You have to find that out first and then if it does have that there is a wiring kit to take it from the premium stock engine to your new head unit it'll bypass the rear controllers I still use the sub and amplifier but it'll work

If you don't have the amp in the right rear, odds are you don't have one. If you don't have a subwoofer in the right rear, odds are greater still that you don't have a separate amp, though my '98 is an exception to that, has the amp there but no sub.

Wiring, there are diagrams for several different setups linked below in my sig as "2nd Gen Wiring Diagrams". I don't know what you mean about "jump the power wire to the radio ignition", as all wires needed to make the new head unit work should already be there on the factory connector, just need an adapter for that to the new head unit, or cut and reconnect the appropriate wires to the new head unit's pigtail connector.
