no speedometer

I swaped transmissions on my 93 explorer (4x2 manual) there is no place for the speedometer gear.I understand there are electric sensors on some vehicles.is there a simple fix i dont have the old transmission thanks for the help

What did the replacement trans come out of?
 












My guess is the trans you got was for a newer vehicle that picked up the speed from the rear axle tone ring/abs sensor.

The 1st gens get their speed from a gear driven cable take off the output shaft of the xfer case, or output shaft of the trans (2wd).

I don't know of a solution to run the factory, mechanical, speedo from something else..

Swap in a later model rear axle? Or just use GPS?
