No start. what do you check ?

I have a 1998 explorer that wont start. But it will start sometimes and run great then just not start for awhile then when it starts it will run. And all of a sudden it will not start again untill it sits for awhile. I never know when it will happen again. Whats the problem.can anyone help me.....

You need fuel, spark and compression. First check your plugs and spark. If that shows nothing then get a fuel gauge and measure the fuel pressure at the fuel rail on the engine. I had my fuel hat corrode and cause a small leak. The low fuel pressure made it a bear to start.

Also check your battery terminals. I had that same problem, my terminals were bent and didn't get good connection at all thus causing it to not start sometime
