No Upshift

Hi, new here so if this has already been covered, just direct me to where it is. 1991 XLT, overheated and cracked the heads. The vehicle sat from Sept til January until the engine was replaced. Now it's running again, but won't shift out of first gear. (Automatic 4X4). Is it something that's stuck from sitting for so long? Or do I need to redo the trans?

maybe a cable or hose was missed when re/re the motor

Flush fluid and see if that helps and check vacuum hose going to the modulator vavle on the tranny.

Welcome to this forum! You might have a sticking governor. Maybe they messed up the adjustment of the kick down cable when the engine was repaired?
