Yet another noise has cropped up on my 03' 4.0 4x4 XLT
When I put it into gear I get a noise like maybe oil pushing through an orifice. It lasts a few seconds and goes away. Maybe it's a something shifting against pressure that's restricted in some way. I just replaced all gear oils:
Transfer case, front and rear diff's and trans. The diff's and transfer case are very easy to drain and refill. The oil in the trans expands as it warms up so that makes checking that level more difficult. I use a scanner to verify trans oil temp and remove the inner drain plug on trans pan to check for proper level. I check level at 100 degrees. I had not noticed this issue before and now that I've serviced the trans this has shown up. This trans (5R55W) was rebuilt about 20K ago and shifts very well. I just don't want to let this go and it bugs me to hear this. Why the F couldn't ford just put a bip stick in?
Anyone got ideas what this could be?
