i just got my Explorer back from the repair shop. IT needed some body work done. I was told by the owner of the shop that My engine was making a really loud noise when it is started up and when it is being driven. He said it is because the engines got 150K miles on it and and that its a lose bearing or something like that. He said that for them to take the block apart and see what really is costs alot in labor. and that i should consider getting a slavage yard engine with low miles and they will put that in for me at around $3500 or so. I'm not really sure what the problem is but i know that my transmission is doing ok its not good but its ok. I really like this truck. I'm basically attached to it because its loyaly served me for the past 7 years or so. and i want to do all that i can to fix it my question is should i go with the salvage yard engine have them take my block part and fix it or what.
